Volleyball Elite Development Programs
The Volleyball Australia Elite Development Programs are part of the Volleyball Australia’s High Performance Pathway and have been established to provide a high performance daily training environment for identified athletes.
Currently, Volleyball Australia runs two Elite Development Programs. These are based in Queensland, through the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and in South Australia, through the South Australian Institute of Sport (SASI). Athletes invited to be part of these programs have been identified as having the potential to be able to play Volleyball, Beach or Indoor, at the international level for Australia, in the future.
The EDP’s incorporate both Indoor and Beach disciplines and involves players making a commitment to undertake training on a regular basis each week. Generally, these program will run annually on a 12-month basis, from April to March, providing athletes with access to world class Volleyball coaching, technique and skill development combined with strength and conditioning and individual athlete case-management.
EDP athletes are categorized into three Tiers, and these are indicative of the different levels at which each athlete engage in the daily training environment. Essentially, the only difference between the Tiers are the volume and specificity of Technical and Strength & Conditioning work, access to medical staff and financial assistance for domestic competition.
